The report focuses on the abnormally high rates of cancer among soccer goalies.  "The Synthetic Turf Council, an industry group, says that the evidence collected so far by scientists and state and federal agencies proves that artificial turf is safe."  Perhaps the Synthetic Turf Council is right, but for many decades, the tobacco industry gave us a similar story.  Personally, I can't imagine a situation where inhaling rubber dust particles shouldn't be avoided.

Senate Bill 77 "The Consideration of Alternatives for Artificial Turf Infill Act of 2016"

Senate Bill 47 "calls for a comprehensive study to determine health risks of synthetic-turf fields with infill made from recycled tires. The bill would also create a statewide moratorium until Jan. 1, 2018, on new fields. If the fields are deemed unsafe, lawmakers could consider a permanent ban."  Senate Bill 47 will also likely investigate all materials that are currently used for infill for synthetic turf fields.
